Jammu & Kashmir Chapter
The Jammu & Kashmir Chapter works closely with women in remote and semi-urban communities, promoting skill development and sustainable livelihood creation while preserving centuries-old artistic traditions.
Through vocational training and artisan support, we aim to empower women economically while safeguarding the region’s cultural heritage.
At the heart of the chapter’s cultural work is the revival of Basohli painting — a roughly 900-year-old miniature tradition from the Basohli region — reinterpreted by women artisans on handwoven Pashmina. Alongside dedicated Pashmina training and artisan support, this work helps safeguard a fragile craft lineage while creating dignified, skill-based livelihoods for the women who carry it forward.
