Our Women Skill Development Initiative focuses on creating opportunities for women in rural and tribal regions of India to learn, earn, and lead.

Why It Matters

Through specialized training programs in knitting, crochet, embroidery, and textile crafts, SAUM bridges the gap between traditional skills and modern livelihood opportunities.

Each woman trained under this program becomes a part of a self-reliant network of artisans — creators of art that sustains both their families and their heritage.

The Journey so far

From small village workshops to structured artisan clusters, our journey has been rooted in compassion and collaboration.
Our in-house designers conduct hands-on sessions that teach technical craft, product finishing, and creative design thinking.

We’ve established over 20 artisan clusters across different states, providing skill-based employment to 250+ women who now independently sustain their families through their craft.

Together, they’re redefining the idea of empowerment — turning threads into tools of transformation.

Our Mission

To build an ecosystem where women from all backgrounds can become financially independent, creatively confident, and socially empowered through skill education and sustainable craft production.

Objectives:

• Promote skill development among rural and tribal women.

• Provide access to consistent income opportunities through craft.

• Revive traditional textile techniques like crochet, hand-knitting, and macramé.

• Connect artisans with design, retail, and export networks through SAUM’s partnerships.

Our Goal

To nurture 10,000+ women artisans by 2030 — building a nationwide network of self-sufficient creators.

Our goals include:

• Setting up 100+ women-led artisan clusters across India.

• Creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in craft-based industries.

• Ensuring equal access to skill tools, design mentorship, and fair pay.

• Promoting global recognition of handcrafted Indian textiles through SAUM collaborations.

Our ultimate goal is not charity — but capacity-building — ensuring every woman becomes a changemaker in her community.
