Reviving the 900-year-old Basohli painting tradition on handwoven Pashmina

A Living Tradition, Reimagined
The Jammu & Kashmir Chapter works closely with women in remote and semi-urban communities, promoting skill development and sustainable livelihood creation while preserving centuries-old artistic traditions.
Through vocational training and artisan support — including training for Pashmina artisans and the revival of the 900-year-old Basohli painting tradition on handwoven Pashmina — we aim to empower women economically while safeguarding the region’s cultural heritage.
